Piece for the Dream Breather 100 Theme Challenge! This is for 12.) Broken

Featuring: 071 Cat Scratch Fever

Several weeks after the Accident.
Cat flinched hard as Tori slid the halter over his ears. He was still very head shy after the trailer wreck. Tori frowned. The crash wasn't his fault, but in some way he felt responsible for putting Cat in that predicament. 
Over the last few weeks, the wounds healed up fine, but something about Cat wasn't the same. The sassy, outspoken stallion he used to know wasn't there anymore. Cat felt hollow and scared to Tori. 
"Easy, Cat. It's okay," Tori spoke softly, clipping the rope the the halter.
There were a lot of changes after the wreck too. The damage was done. Cat would never see out of his left eye again. It was struggle for the entire staff to adjust to this but more so for Cat. He was jumpier than usual and more aggressive if he heard or smelled something on his blind spot. Cross tying him was no longer an option as he has broken them several times and injured himself int he process. Cat has to be led on the right side now because he doesn't trust humans on his blind side. Should any extensive work be done, for safety reasons, Cat has to be tranquilized if one must work on his right side. His turn out changed to day time only as he got too worked up in the night. The light above his stall must stay on through the night to ensure he never loses vision of the objects around him. Even his feet have to be picked on one side. 
Tori sighed and led Cat out of the stall. Cat hesitated and pulled back on the rope. He remembered the night of the wreck feeling the same sensation. Just a rope pulling on him. Cat's body tensed up, he wasn't going back to that place.
Tori slackened the rope and just bumped a little, "Come on, Cat. It's okay."
Cat's ears flipped forward. 'That's right...there was that voice. It led me to safety...'
Cat cautiously took a step out of the stall and slowly followed Tori out of the barn. He shook his forelock out of his good eye and looked at the human by his side. Cat studied the firm frown on Tori's face. He seemed pained in a way. Cat wondered if he had the same kind of injuries from the wreck. 
Tori opened the gate to the smaller paddock that had no timber in it for Cat's safety. He closed it behind them and carefully slid the halter off of Cat's head.
Cat didn't flinch this time and didn't even notice. He watched as the human crawled over the gate and stood on the other side, watching him. 
Cat didn't feel like galloping or kicking up a storm like he normally did. Since the wreck, he didn't feel like doing much at all. Even after the couple weeks of stall rest, he just didn't have the urge. 
He looked at the ground...he just didn't feel like doing anything.
The past few weeks gave cat plenty of time to think about that moment in time. When he felt so terrified that his mind was blank. He thought he was going to be left for dead. But the human came to his rescue. Tori came to his rescue and pulled him away from the carnage and noise. All Cat had to do was give in....
'Give in...'
A calm wind blew through the paddock, rustling the boys' hair. Tori looked at Cat's expression and knew he felt broken on the inside. He just hoped someday he'd see Cat smile again. All ori could do was be there for him and let him know it would all be okay. 
Tori forced a smile, "It's okay Cat. You're okay."

Aww <3 bonding! After all of this, I realized I'm going to have to redo his reference sheet now xD Cat has some new scars and some new stories. I might find him a pasture buddy now that he's not as aggressive! (well not towards horses anyway xD) But it'll take a special pasture buddy to bring Cat around! Happy 100 EP CAT! He's come a long way! Love this dude! Next story line to work on will be Snokomo! My chill dude. Wonder what I'll do with him x3
Okay back to foal designs...I just had to get art done for him in a week's time to adopt another gorgeous Breather :'D Coming soon!~
