Jarin was excited to join in on the Abelsia quests! Sydney never let him help out with the ones he did. Something about "getting in the way"? He didn't know how helping could be considered "getting in the way". So he decided to take one on his own! It was one to take on an old grey warrior on a powerful grey steed! They were going to joust!
Jarin had Googled, 'Joust' and it turned out to be a video game! It looked like a super retro video too! Jarin couldn't quite grasp how a dusty old video game had anything to do with horses, but what did he know? He still had so much to learn, maybe this was some weird tradition? He shrugged it off and chose his trusty mare, Blue for the job. They had grown quite attached as he worked her more and more. She'd be able to ride out to find this old warrior.
Jarin was anticipating a fierce-looking barbarian with a horse that stood 20 hands tall with scars all over both of them. Truthfully, he didn't know how he was going to best him at a video game. He wasn't a good gamer at all. He set Blue's reins on her neck and started googling 'jousting tips'. He'd need to know all he could about this video game if he was going to stand a chance to claim the reward.
Wait...
None of this looked like a video game anymore...
He scrolled through the images, seeing big dudes in metal suits, charging down a line with big sticks, with colorful blankets laid over their horses. Jarin started to feel completely unprepared. He'd rather play a video game. This looked scary and dangerous! He wasn't confident about it before, he definitely wasn't confident about it now. But Sydney had taught him to suck it up and "be a man". No backing out now. Finish what he started.
He made it to the outskirts of town, looking around for this old grey warrior on a grey stallion. Quivering in his boots, he scanned the shoreline. He saw...a grey stallion. Oh no. That must be him. He crept a little closer. The rider didn't appear to be that old. Upon closer inspection, he could see about three or four grey hairs among the otherwise, brown hair. Old people had grey hair right?
That had to be him! Jarin charged in as he had seen the others in the videos he watched. He didn't have the big stick but he'd just have to improvise, maybe dodge out of the way just in the nick of time.
The rider heard the sound of Blue's hooves, thundering down the beach. It was none other than Tristan on his grey mount, Abalone. He spun him around to see what in the hell was flying up behind him. To his absolute horror, he saw Jarin charging in on Blue like a bat out of hell.
Jarin recognized Tristan immediately. His heart stopped in his chest. Oh no. Tristan was the old grey warrior!? There was no way he could ever beat Tristan at anything. He was done for. Maybe if he just tried to surrender, first. He threw his arms out but forgot Blue was still galloping in with all her heart! There was a quite stallion to go see!
Tristan had just enough time to pop poor Abalone into a wild haute ecole maneuver and rid Blue of her insane rider. He gathered Abalone up and glared at Jarin, who was wiped out on the ground, a glare that was as hot as the heat of 1,000 suns, fresh from the depths of hell.
Jarin learned a valuable lesson that day...jousting was not a game in any sense.

Jarin, you special child, you. He is capable of learning...only after he manages to completely fail at it.
Poor Tristan...we know where those grey hairs came from... *points at Jarin's corpse*
Well, I had fun anyway xD
